Richard Carmona's ‘Work’ On Med Board Scrutinized

Rich Carmona’s Term On Doctor Review Board Marked By ‘Steady Stream Of Criticism,’ ‘Inadequate Investigations’

Carmona ‘Spoke Out Against’ Discipline

Doctor Operated ‘On The Wrong Patient’"...Dr. Loomis for administering anesthesia to the wrong patient and to Dr. Zerella for operating on the wrong patient.” (Arizona Board of Medical Examiners, Meeting Minutes, 2/25/2001)

Carmona ‘Spoke Out Against’ ‘Discipline’"Tim Hunter, M.D. strongly recommended discipline for both MDs... Richard Carmona, M.D. spoke out against the motion.” (Arizona Board of Medical Examiners, Meeting Minutes, 2/25/2001)
"Richard Carmona, M.D. recommended an advisory letter be given the doctors...” (Arizona Board of Medical Examiners, Meeting Minutes, 2/25/2001)

Carmona Term Saw ‘Steady Stream of Criticism’

AUDIT:"...doesn’t discipline doctors, even when its own investigators discover cases in whichdoctors violated state statutes, the audit says.” (“Medical Board Still Too Lenient,” The Arizona Republic, 10/1/99)
"...the agency has come under a steady stream of criticism from legislators, good-government groups, patients and even some doctors - all charging that the board of medical examiners, or BOMAX, has not effectively policed errant physicians.” (“BOMEX Reform Still A Bit Wobbly,” The Arizona Republic, 4/18/99)
"Even though it has been through a complete overhaul, the agency that protects Arizonans from bad doctors still is too soft on errant physicians and takes too long to handle cases, the state auditor general says.” (“Medical Board Still Too Lenient,” The Arizona Republic, 10/1/99)
"...inadequate investigations of complaints, dismissed 144 of them against doctors during a special video-conference meeting Thursday in Tucson and Tempe.” (“Medical Investigators Dismiss 144 Cases,” Tucson Citizen, 7/24/99)

Arizona Medical Association Won’t Endorse Carmona
"It goes a long way to explain why the Arizona Medical Association, of which Carmona was a board member, has failed to endorse his Senate run. When those closest to a candidate fail to endorse, it’s a signal for the rest of us.” (“Dem. Senate Candidate Carmona Failed to Keep Bad Doctors Accountable,” Breitbart News, 10/30/12)
"Dr. Carmona skipped no less than 284 votes on disciplining doctors for delivering inferior care. Worse, he completely blew off 24 meetings of the BoMEx.” (“Dem. Senate Candidate Carmona Failed to Keep Bad Doctors Accountable,” Breitbart News, 10/30/12)

"...he generally blew off this responsibility.” (“Dem. Senate Candidate Carmona Failed to Keep Bad Doctors Accountable,” Breitbart News, 10/30/12)

Because Four Years of Trillion Dollar Deficits Wasn’t Enough, Will Sinema Support Obama’s Plan to Spend Even More? AZ09.

Dems Think Their Policies ‘Worked’ So They Want to Continue Strapping Families and Job Creators With Job-Killing Tax Hikes to Protect Their Spending Habits

WASHINGTON --- President Obama is making a renewed push to bury job creators and families in new taxes, claiming his second term top priority would be to increase taxes on job creators in order to continue his party’s spending habits. This approach – which Kyrsten Sinema's party has voted for – will crush small business owners and prevent them from creating jobs (Roll Call , 8/1/2012).
"President Obama and House Democrats are out-of-touch to think that by continuing their failed policies of more taxing, spending and borrowing will somehow produce different results,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. "Arizona voters, unlike Washington Democrats, know that you can’t spend your way to economic recovery – but will Kyrsten Sinema just blindly follow her party leaders?”

With the blind allegiance of his party, the deficit surpassed $1 trillion each year President Obama was president. (“Federal deficit tops $1 trillion for fourth year,” Associated Press, 10/12/2012)

This is the same failed economic approach that President Obama said has ‘worked:’
"Just like we’ve tried their plan, we tried our plan -- and it worked. That’s the difference.” (“Remarks by the President at a Campaign Event,” The White House, 7/24/2012)

Therefore, Americans can expect the same stale approach as President Obama admitted his second term plan is to focus on a deficit deal that includes tax hikes on job creators:

"’Well, there’s no doubt that our first order of business is going to be to get our deficits and debt under control...But we are also going to need some revenue,’ [said Obama].” (Daniel Strauss,"Obama says 'first order of business' in second term would be deficit,” The Hill, 10/29/2012)

Arizona Republican Chairman Responds With Strong Support for Sheriff Joe Arpaio

PHOENIX – Tom Morrissey, Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, issued the following statement today in response to former Maricopa County Attorney Rick Romley's statement regarding "accountability" in the race for Maricopa County Sheriff:

"As a fellow veteran and fellow law enforcement officer, I was disappointed but not surprised to hear that just one week before election day Rick Romley’s grudge against Sheriff Joe Arpaio has emerged again. Romley lost in 2010 to Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery, who was supported by Arpaio.

"Romley yesterday complained to Channel 12’s Brahm Resnik that Sheriff Joe Arpaio had a 'lack of accountability.' In fact, Sheriff Joe has always been accountable to the people, which is why he’s won five elections in a row, and polls are now showing him strongly in the lead.

"Romley has a history of supporting Democrats who lose to Republicans."

Silence IS Acceptance in AZ09

Remember when... "[Daniel] Patterson has fought allegations of ethics violations that included domestic violence, intimidating fellow lawmakers, outbursts of anger, marijuana use and offers to a lobbyist to trade sex for a vote.” – Rep. Daniel Patterson resigns from Arizona House, Arizona Republic, April 11, 2012

Yet on Monday... "Vote 2012: Daniel's Arizona candidate recommendations:
US House,...CD9: Kyrsten Sinema” – The Southwest Eagle (Daniel Patterson’s blog), October 29, 2012

Daniel Patterson has made it clear through his endorsement that he shares the same values and beliefs as Kyrsten Sinema.

Silence is acceptance and Sinema has been disturbingly silent over Patterson’s endorsement. This is just another example of why Kyrsten Sinema is an embarrassment.

ICYMI Cook Report"Kirkpatrick's ruffled relations with tribes”

The Cook Political Report covered CD 1 in their write-up yesterday of the most competitive House races in the country.

Cook points to"Kirkpatrick's ruffled relations with tribes,” noting that the"Navajo Nation tribal council just declined to endorse her.” According to the piece, Kirkpatrick’s missteps have left Jonathan Paton with a"big opening.”

AZ-01: NEW SEAT – Northeast: Flagstaff, Navajo Nation, Casa Grande
Toss Up. Democrats were bullish earlier in the year on former Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick's comeback chances in this favorably redrawn Northern Arizona seat, but both parties admit the outcome here is now in doubt. Kirkpatrick's ruffled relations with tribes (the Navajo Nation tribal council just declined to endorse her) and a poor editorial board meeting (the Arizona Republic called it a meltdown) have given GOP state Sen. Jonathan Paton a big opening. Over half of voters in Arizona vote by mail, so there's not much left either side can do.

In this election, will it be Flake, Kyl, McCain, Romney? Or Carmona, Pelosi, labor unions, Obama?

So, balanced budgets, more jobs, smaller government, no earmarks, no Obamacare?

Or Medicare cuts, higher taxes, yes to earmarks, no end to the recession?

For a smaller, more responsible government, vote Jeff Flake for U.S. Senate.

Kyrsten Sinema Mocks Arizona State University AZ09.

"It’s a Party School.”

Phoenix, AZ – In the world of politics and campaigns, it’s not surprising that mud gets thrown around. Usually it’s between candidates. But now Democrat Kyrsten Sinema has a different target – students at the state’s largest university, ASU.

In a recent video, Sinema ridicules Arizona State University calling it,"a party school”. She goes on to say that because ASU students like to party, they rarely show up prepared to the classes she teaches. She concludes by suggesting that the students are so stupid they don’t realize Wikipedia is not an appropriate source of citation.

Don’t believe it? We didn’t at first – until we saw it with our own eyes. Check it out for yourself - click here to see how Kyrsten Sinema really feels about students at ASU.

The question now: If Ms. Sinema feels this way about one of her largest group of supporters, how does she feel about all voters in CD9?

Do you really want someone who mocks you to be your voice in Washington?

*Vernon Parker sent the following letter to Michael Crow.

Attention: Michael Crow

Dear Michael Crow,

My campaign has discovered a recording you need to see. In this appalling video, my opponent Kyrsten Sinema, is on record mocking students at ASU. She refers to your university as"a party school” and suggests that your students are so stupid that they don’t realize"Wikipedia is not an appropriate citation source because they believe if they read it on the internet it must be true.”

You can find the video at this YouTube link,

If Ms. Sinema has the audacity to mock students at such a prestigious university as yours, what else is she capable of? If that’s how she feels about ASU students, what does she secretly think about voters? Should she really be the person to represent ASU’s interests in DC?

As you know, education is the reason I’m here today. I put myself through college and law school with the help of my family and student loans. I believe protecting and improving education is paramount and will be one of my top priorities in Washington.

Thank you for your time. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss this further.

Sincerely,

Vernon Parker

This is very revealing --

Democrats Ron Barber and Kyrsten Sinema have won the endorsement of disgraced state Rep. Daniel Patterson (pictured here).

Patterson recommended both Democrats in a blog post yesterday.

Who is Daniel Patterson?

He’s a disgraced Tucson politician who was forced to resign last year after ethics violations and accusations of domestic violence, intimidation towards other legislators, outbursts of anger, marijuana use and"offers to a lobbyist to trade sex for a vote,” according to the Arizona Republic.

NRCC COMMENT:"You can tell a lot about someone’s character based on their friends. Disgraced legislator Daniel Patterson has weighed-in and he believes Ron Barber and Kyrsten Sinema would make great members of Congress. This is just more proof that Barber and Sinema are wrong for Arizona.” – NRCC Spokesman Daniel Scarpinato

P.S. – Yes, that’s actually Patterson’s campaign photo.

VIDEO Ron Barber Demonizes Doctors As "over Paid." AZ02

Watch Ron Barber blame doctors, or as he puts it "health care providers," for health care costs going up. The media ignored it. He lied when said Medicare isn't going to be slashed by $716 billion. It is. Doctors aren't going to be reimbursed at the current Medicare rates, which are already less than regular patients. Good luck finding a doctor to accept Medicare patients. They won't be able to afford it.
Watch around 8:38 to see him lie about Medicare and say doctors and providers are overpaid. Call him out!

Update on Maricopa County Early Ballots & GOTV Efforts

I spoke with Maricopa County Elections Officials about an hour ago.

Here is a status of the Early Voter Ballots for Maricopa County as of 9:01am, Tuesday, 10/30/2012:

The 516,668 is 44.7% of the 1,155,000. The breakdown of the 516,668 is Republican 232,369 (466,451), Democrat 156,219 (350,389) and Other 128,080 (348,907).

The numbers in parenthesis represent the total number of early voter ballots for Republicans, Democrats and Others. You do the math.

I know Republicans in every County, and throughout Arizona, are monitoring and chasing every ballot possible. Please keep up the hard work and all your GOTV efforts in your LDs and Counties.

I plan to send out one more update before November 6th.

Arizona Daily Wildcat Endorses Jonathan Paton in AZ01.

Today, the Arizona Daily Wildcat student newspaper threw its support behind Jonathan Paton for Arizona's First District, citing Paton's work on CPS reform and efforts to increase government transparency. The editorial also noted Kirkpatrick's ineffectiveness during her previous term in Congress despite Democrats controlling the House, Senate, and Presidency.

The Wildcat is the daily student newspaper of the University of Arizona, the alma mater of both Paton and Kirkpatrick. Paton was the only Republican that the paper endorsed.

Arizona Daily Wildcat: Paton for Congressional District 1

His opponent, Ann Kirkpatrick, has greater recognition and has already served a term from 2008 to 2010. But during that time, Democrats controlled both the House and the Senate, and still proved to be ineffective at offering long-term solutions to control spending.

In 2009, Paton helped push"Kaity’s Law,” an effort that increased protection for domestic violence victims in dating relationships. In 2010, he led a series of hearings into Arizona’s Child Protective Services after the deaths of three children from Tucson, whose parents had been investigated by CPS. Paton offered his voice to victims whose own voices are too often minimized, and he supports greater transparency in government.

The Arizona Newspapers Association has twice given a Freedom of Information Award to Paton, an advocate of open government records.

Though we don’t agree with all of Paton’s political positions, he has proven himself to be a staunch supporter of government transparency. The Daily Wildcat endorses Paton for Congressional District 1.

Senator Jon Kyl Reaffirms Carmona Unfit to Represent Arizona AZSEN.

PHOENIX – U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl issued the following statement today reaffirming his previous contention that he lost interest in Dr. Richard Carmona's potential candidacy for elective office following a conversation in which Carmona emphasized an interest in the perks of the job: "Richard Carmona’s latest assertion about me is no less misleading than the others. Several years ago, he and I attended a charity dinner in Phoenix after which I sent him a note complimenting him on his remarks. As I recall, we chatted during the dinner about his future in the most general of terms. This was the conversation I was referring to in the personal note I sent him shortly after the dinner.
"When we finally did speak again, we discussed the possibility of his running for the House seat then occupied by retiring Congressman Jim Kolbe, and as I’ve said, once it became clear to me that Mr. Carmona’s primary concern was the perks of the office, I concluded he was not worth pursuing any further.
"It was deeply off-putting to me that Mr. Carmona was more interested in a house and a car than he was in the issues that matter to Arizonans. That impression has been powerfully confirmed by Mr. Carmona’s recent dishonesty about our past interactions, as well as a recent campaign ad that implies I support his candidacy when I do not.
"Mr. Carmona struck me as unfit to represent Arizona in Congress several years ago. That judgment seems even truer today. This shows that he lacks the integrity and character Arizonans should be able to expect from their elected representatives in Washington.”

Senators John McCain and Jon Kyl Call New Carmona Ad"Deeply Dishonest” - AZSEN.

"It is shameful for Richard Carmona to try to deceive the voters in this way”

PHOENIX – United States Senators John McCain and Jon Kyl today released the following statement in response to a new ad from Democrat Richard Carmona that deceives Arizona voters about who they support in the Arizona Senate race:
"In a deeply dishonest new TV ad, Richard Carmona implies that we support his campaign for Senate. We do not. Mr. Carmona is committed to raising taxes and government spending, increasing our nation’s already out-of-control debt, and he supports President Obama’s health care law, Obamacare. Let’s be clear: Richard Carmona’s first vote in the Senate would be for Harry Reid and the Obama agenda. As his new ad makes clear, Mr. Carmona is also willing to say or do just about anything to promote the interests of Richard Carmona, not the interests of the people of Arizona. It is shameful for Richard Carmona to try to deceive the voters inthis way. It shows that he has no credibility, and it says everything the voters of Arizona need to know about Richard Carmona’s fitness for office. Jeff Flake is our candidate. Sinema Campaign Home of the Whopper

Sinema Campaign Covers Up Kyrsten's Career as Counsel to Criminals. Fudges RƩsumƩ and Won't Release Client List

PHOENIX – Extreme congressional candidate Kyrsten Sinema’s career defending murderers is causing her campaign team to play fast and loose with the truth about Sinema’s record.

When questioned by Arizona Republic reporter Rebekah Sanders about Sinema’s rĆ©sumĆ©, her chief campaign obfuscator Rodd McLeod said that his boss hasn’t defended murderers, rapists and child molesters since 2006. (Dan Nowicki and Rebekah L. Sanders "AZ GOP Calls Sinema Soft on Crime, Arizona Republic, 10/24/12)

But a closer look at the Sinema record, which involves little more than access to Google, shows that the soft-on-crime Sinema as recently as 2009 touted her specialization"in criminal defense,” in her book"Unite and Conquer.”

Not long ago were the days that Sinema proudly touted her defense work, once even gleefully bragging at a gathering of leftist activists that she was a"criminal defense attorney who represents murderers.” (Shawn Macomber,"The Marginalized Mainstream,” The American Spectator, June 14, 2006)
"Sinema must have seen the poll numbers and figured out that standing up for murderers isn’t a winning campaign theme,” said Tim Sifert, spokesman for the Arizona Republican Party."It’s long past time for Sinema to stop the stonewalling and come clean with voters and release her criminal client list. Voters deserve to know the real Kyrsten Sinema. They’ll quickly realize just how extreme and far out of the mainstream Sinema is.”

Sinema has repeatedly gone mute on her record on criminal justice issues throughout her campaign for Congress.

BACKGROUND...

Sinema on Crime

Sponsored legislation to repeal the death penalty, which would have spared the Serial Shooter and the Baseline Killer. (48th Legislature, HB 2278, death penalty; repeal; natural life.)

Authored bill to release killers under age 18 out of prison after 25 years. (2008, HB 2293)

Sponsored H.B. 2678, a bill that would have established a process to release criminals on a medical parole with no allowance for victims to make a victim impact statement. (48th Legislature, prisoners; medical parole).

New NRSC Ad Reminds Arizonans That Richard Carmona Is An Obama Rubberstamp AZSEN JustLikeObama.

Carmona Supports President Obama’s $1.76 Trillion Healthcare Law

WASHINGTON – The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) today released their latest statewide ad –"Rubberstamp” – which continues to remind voters that Richard Carmona is the only Democrat who was personally recruited by President Obama and that he supports his $1.76 trillion healthcare law.

"After being recruited by President Obama, it should come as no surprise that Democrat Richard Carmona called the President"brave” for ramming his $1.76 trillion healthcare bill through Congress,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox. "In this election the choice is clear: it’s either Richard Carmona who will be a reliable vote for President Obama’s liberal agenda or Jeff Flake who will continue to fight for jobs and against wasteful spending in Washington.”

BACKGROUND....
"On September 23, President Obama called Richard Carmona to encourage him to run,” said one Democratic strategist. (Alexander Burns, Obama courts Ariz. Senate candidate, may contest state 'heavily', Politico, 10/06/11)

Carmona Said He Supported Obamacare And Said What The President Did Was Brave. QUESTION:"The affordable care act, do you support it and are there any recommendations you might make for amendment to the affordable care act . . .” CARMONA:". . . Yes, I support it however, I have spoken to the President about this, I have spoken to the senior leadership, Harry Reid, Murray, Schumer on all these issues. I think what the President did was brave to move forward with a plan to try and ensure that every American has access to a basic set of health care benefits. Clearly it is where I am, 100 percent.” (“Richard Carmona Supports Obamacare,” Arizona Democrat Party Meeting, Tucson, AZ, Youtube, 1/21/12)

Carmona Supports President Obama’s Job-Killing Healthcare Law. "Carmona served as the 17th surgeon general of the United States under President George W. Bush. Last year, he participated in series of health care town halls that the congresswoman held in Tucson, Sierra Vista and Green Valley. ‘The issue facing our country is how do we get the best care for the most people at the least cost,’ Carmona said. ‘We spend more for health care than any other nation on Earth, but the metrics of our results don’t reflect that. We need to move toward a health care system, not the sick care system that we have today. This legislation moves us closer to that. This bill is not perfect. But these are complex issues and we must move forward. And then I hope we can sit down with level heads and make it even better for the benefit of the American people.’” (“U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords Announces Support For Historic Health Insurance Reform Legislation,” Congresswoman Giffords Press Release, 3/20/10)

Ann Kirkpatrick A boycotter’s best friend AZ01 JustLikePelosi

Ann Kirkpatrick is standing in solidarity with the same out-of-state radical activists who boycotted Arizona, destroying jobs and hurting our economy.

Kirkpatrick has received $5,000 from the SEIU, the union group that helped initiate and lead the boycott of Arizona in 2010. Not a surprise given that Kirkpatrick opposed Arizona’s immigration law, SB1070, and repeatedly voted against efforts to secure our border when she was in the state Legislature.

Kirkpatrick’s money from big unions doesn’t stop there. In total, Kirkpatrick has received a total of $116,700 from powerful union special interests.
"Ann Kirkpatrick is walking arm in arm with the same radical activists who attacked Arizona and hurt our economy,” said Paton spokesman Barrett Marson."This relationship is a red flag. Kirkpatrick will continue to put these extremists before Arizonans if she gets back to Washington.”

ICYMI WSJ - Jeff Flake’s Senate Race Tests the Politics of Pork AZSEN

Arizona's longtime crusader against federal spending has to resist pressure to bring home the bacon.

By Stephen Moore
The Wall Street Journal
October 20, 2012

In his razor-tight race for Arizona's open Senate seat, Republican nominee Jeff Flake-a six-term U.S. congressman-recently met behind closed doors with about a dozen leading businessmen in the state, including two powerful and respected CEOs: real-estate developer Mike Ingram and former Phoenix Suns owner Jerry Colangelo.

Both businessmen supported Mr. Flake's opponent in the Republican primary (Mr. Flake won by 40 points), and both are pushing for federal financing of a road project that would stretch from Phoenix to Las Vegas. In the western part of the state, the 300-mile highway would bisect their 34,000-acre Douglas Ranch, where they have plans to develop a luxury hotel and upscale homes. A person who attended the meeting recalls that the two asked Mr. Flake: "We need to know. Are you going to be an Arizona senator or a U.S. senator?"

I'm told that Mr. Flake responded by saying that with the country facing a $16 trillion debt, dealing with that problem was his priority.

Good answer; wrong audience. The two CEOs still haven't endorsed Mr. Flake. In an interview Mr. Ingram confirmed the meeting and explained that the business executives in the room "worry that Mr. Flake may not support business compared to [Rich] Carmona," Mr. Flake's Democratic opponent. Mr. Ingram added that Mr. Flake is too often "a no vote on many economic development issues," including "transportation bills."

Arizona's Senate contest is testing the age-old question of whether bringing home the bacon is what wins elections. Almost no one in Congress has fought for smaller government more tirelessly than Mr. Flake, who has won so many taxpayer hero awards that the trophies overflow his shelves. In the age of Barack Obama's trillion-dollar annual deficits, Mr. Flake's financial message would seem to fit the times.

By contrast, Dr. Carmona-a celebrated military veteran and Purple Heart recipient who was U.S. surgeon general under George W. Bush-defends pork projects. He said in a recent debate that earmarks "aren't all bad," describing some as "smart investments," a favorite phrase of the left these days. Mr. Flake chastised him, noting that when members of Congress spend their time chasing earmarks, they sell their souls to the appropriators who use them as safe votes for budget-busting spending bills.

Mr. Flake's anti-earmark crusading was featured on "60 Minutes" in 2006, with the Arizonan compared to Jimmy Stewart in "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington." When the piece aired, the GOP leadership stripped him of his slot on the Judiciary Committee for "bad behavior." Two years later, House Republicans saw the light and passed his landmark earmark moratorium.

Day 14 of Kyrsten Sinema's Refusal to Release List of Murderers She Defended. AZ09.

Sinema Not Yet Responding to Letter of Inquiry into Her List of Clients

PHOENIX – With just two weeks until election day, Kirsten Sinema's campaign is still refusing to release the list of murderers she claimed to defend.

Kyrsten Sinema, running for Congress in Arizona's Ninth District, once proudly boasted about her work as a"criminal defense attorney who represents murderers.” (Shawn Macomber,"The Marginalized Mainstream,” The American Spectator, June 14, 2006)

Today marks Day 14 of her receipt of a hand-delivered letter from Arizona Republican Party Chairman Tom Morrissey asking her to release her client list, including the murderers she claimed to represent. No response has been received.
"If you run for Congress, you shouldn't be running from your past.” said Tom Morrissey, Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party which is headquartered in Arizona's Ninth Congressional District. "Sinema is trying to erase her past and pretend she's someone else, and we think voters simply want to know more about the deeds she's done than she's willing to reveal."

Below is the letter Morrissey sent to Ms. Sinema asking her to stop hiding her client list.

October 9, 2012

Ms. Kyrsten Sinema
123 E Baseline Rd. D-202
Tempe, AZ 85283

Dear Kyrsten:

As the former Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal for Arizona, I strongly believe it is important for the people of Arizona and this Congressional district to know whom you stand with.

In a 2006 interview with American Spectator magazine, and while a member of the Arizona Legislature, you proudly boasted that you were a"criminal defense attorney who represents murderers.”

Your voting record is also troubling.

In 2009, you were one of five state representatives to vote against a bill (SB 1253) that adds drive by shooting to the list of specified felonies that are subject to the felony murder classification. This measure was passed in bipartisan fashion 50-5.

In 2007, you were the Prime Sponsor of HB 2278, a bill to end the death penalty for murderers and rapists. Luckily your bill wasn’t passed.

In light of your pronouncements of support for murderers I ask you to immediately release your entire client list of any murderers you have represented or currently represent.

Most sincerely,

/s/

Tom Morrissey
Chairman
Arizona Republican Party

Does Kyrsten Sinema Support Using Devastating Defense Cuts As A"Weapon” in Her Party’s Tax-Increasing Agenda? AZ09

Washington Democrats Threaten Devastating Military Cuts Because They Refuse to on Families and Job Creators

WASHINGTON --- Across-the-board cuts would severely threaten our national security but Kyrsten Sinema's Democrat allies have voted to use them as a political pawn so they can get the job-destroying tax hikes they want (Roll Call , 8/1/2012). Sinema and her party are doing everything to distract voters and increase their election chances, from denying that the cuts will happen to offering defense contractors incentives to break the law and not hand out pink slips days before the election.
"It’s troubling that Democrats would use the health of our national security as a ‘weapon’ just so they can continue their reckless spending addiction,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay."Arizona families and small business owners do not want these devastating defense cuts and can’t afford more taxes and reckless spending of their tax dollars.”

In the third presidential debate, President Obama attempted to distract from the Democrats’ job-destroying policies after the election:
"’First of all, the sequester is not something that I proposed. It’s something that Congress has proposed. It will not happen. The budget that we’re talking about is not reducing our military spending, it’s maintaining it,’ [said Obama].” (“Remarks by the President and Governor Romney in the Third Presidential Debate,” The White House, 10/23/2012)

In truth, Democrat leaders see devastating defense cuts as a"weapon” in their efforts to increase taxes:
"‘That may be the only way to bring some Republicans into a position of talking,’ Sen. Richard J. Durbin of Illinois, the assistant Democratic leader, said late last week. ‘We're not going to unload our weapons at this point.’” (Lisa Mascaro,"Congressional Democrats Dig In on Fiscal Cliff Scenario,” Los Angeles Times, 7/16/2012)

Indeed, the very idea of sequestration originated with Democrats:
"The book ‘The Price of Politics,’ by Washington Post Associate Editor Bob Woodward, makes it clear the idea for the draconian spending cuts originated in the White House – and not in Congress.” (Austin Wright,"Bob Woodward Book Could Bolster Republican Attack on W.H.,” Politico, 9/7/2012)

Washington Democrats tried to downplay sequester by requesting that defense contractors"hold off on layoff warnings.” (Jeanne Sahadi,"White House to Contractors: Hold Off on Layoff Warnings,” CNN, 9/28/2012)

Three Strikes, Richard Carmona, and You're Out! AZSEN.

Third Big Lie from Richard Carmona Tops Countless Distortions and Truth-Twistings Followed by Insults of Debate Moderator Candy Crowley

PHOENIX – Over the course of just two weeks President Obama's hand-picked Arizona recruit, Richard Carmona, added two more glaring lies to his list of statements that are flatly untrue. This news comes on the heels of a devastating development last week in which Carmona skewered his own campaign by personally insulting CNN's Candy Crowley.

One of Carmona's lies came to light last week, when Dennis Welch from 3TV interviewed Richard Carmona about voting in the 2010 election:

Welch: "He [Carmona] says he did vote that year but election officials in Pima County say he didn't."

Carmona: "It was a mail-in ballot, that's all I remember, and I think I was travelling -- is the reason -- most of the time I use the, uh, mail in ballot."

Welch: "But Pima County Record F. Ann Rodriguez says her records don't back up Carmona's claim."

The second whopper from Carmona stems from Carmona trying to question Flake's support for veterans. Veterans responded swiftly to support Flake, in fact, and U.S. Army Veteran April White immediately defended Flake and said, "Jeff helped me when no one else would." She also said Carmona's television advertising "makes me sick." A fact check broadcast by ABC15 News called two statements by Carmona "misleading."

A third recent major campaign fib from Carmona came early this week in which Carmona got the facts all wrong regarding Jeff Flake's support for mining in Northern Arizona.

Carmona wrongly said Jeff Flake supports mining in the Grand Canyon, but yesterday the Jeff Flake for Senate responded the claim is not true and provided video evidence of his exchange earlier this year with Ken Salazar, President Obama's Secretary of the Interior:

Flake:"If those of us who disagree with the decision to remove a million acres, nobody in the Department can say, or it’s not true, that we are advocating to mine in the Grand Canyon. Correct?”

Salazar:"That’s exactly correct.”

Flake:"And by the same token, none of us who disagree with the Department’s decision can be said to be advocating mining within the Grand Canyon National Park either?”

Salazar:"That is correct.”

Carmona's attack is based on his own error regarding basic Arizona geography: the truth is that the land in question is not in the Grand Canyon or the Grand Canyon National Park. Despite being corrected, the Carmona campaign insists on continuing to mislead voters. (“Obama Interior Secretary Ken Salazar Contradicts Richard Carmona's Campaign,” Flake press release, October 22, 2012)
"Richard Carmona earned instant infamy for his demeaning and deeply offensive insult of CNN's Candy Crowley last week,” said Arizona Republican Party spokesman Tim Sifert. "But those of us who've been watching his career come to an end also need to remind voters that Carmona's entire campaign has been based lies about Jeff Flake.”

"I followed his career when he served as U.S. surgeon general during 2002-2006, and it was nothing to write home about – or on which to run for political office." (Henry I. Miller, Forbes Dr. Carmona's Condition, 10/17/12)

"In contrast to these profiles in courage, Dr. Carmona went along to get along. He testified before the Waxman committee that he had allowed himself to be muzzled and subjected to 'partisanship and political manipulation' by Bush Administration 'political appointees' in his 'chain of command,' whom he refused to name." (Henry I. Miller, Forbes Dr. Carmona's Condition, 10/17/12)

"Dr. Carmona was virtually invisible during his entire tenure." (Henry I. Miller, Forbes Dr. Carmona's Condition, 10/17/12)

"Dr. Carmona often got the science wrong." (Henry I. Miller, Forbes Dr. Carmona's Condition, 10/17/12)

"While he was surgeon general, Dr. Carmona gave a lecture (which I attended) to an audience of scholars at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution. Thirty-five of his forty minutes were devoted to self-serving autobiography; the remaining five minutes offered no specifics but merely a promise to"implement the public health policies of the president.” (Henry I. Miller, Forbes Dr. Carmona's Condition, 10/17/12)

Four Days After "Joke," Richard Carmona Has Yet to Offer Arizonans an Explanation

Voters deserve to know why Carmona thinks a joke about a woman’s looks is funny to him.

PHOENIX – It’s been over four days since Richard Carmona made an insensitive comment about CNN’s Candy Crowley’s looks, and over three days since he was forced to apologize for it. But Richard Carmona has yet to explain to Arizona voters why he thought such a comment would be funny in the first place.

The liberal-leaning The Atlantic touched on that issue:"It’s like he wanted to have a moment of levity, to connect with voters, and the first thing that popped into his head was calling a woman ugly.” (Elspeth Reeve, "Arizona Senate Candidate Calls Candy Crowley Ugly for No Reason" The Atlantic, 10/18/12)
"Richard Carmona apologized for his comment by passing it off as a joke, but Arizonans deserve to know why Carmona thinks making fun of a woman’s appearance is funny to him,” said Sharon Giese, Arizona Republican Party National Committeewoman.

Does Sinema Agree With Obama that"Nation-Building At Home” Means Creating Jobs in China? AZ09.

Arizona Democrat’s Party Sent Taxpayer Dollars to China Due to Their Nearly $1 Trillion Stimulus.

WASHINGTON --- Thanks to Kyrsten Sinema's party’s support for President Obama’s wasteful stimulus spending spree, China has seen new jobs and holds more of America’s debt while the economy continues to remain stagnant (Roll Call , 2/13/2009). Arizona families and small business owners have seen their taxes rise and their opportunities fall under the Obama tenure – is this what ‘nation-building at home’ looks like to Sinema?
"Obama claims his taxing, spending and borrowing priorities have been to focus on ‘nation-building at home,’” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay."However, does Kyrsten Sinema agree that creating jobs in China and letting China own more of our debt is nation building here at home? After four years of rising debt and the worst economic recovery in American history, Sinema and his party are not on the same page as Arizona voters.”

During last night’s debate, President Obama repeatedly suggested he wanted to do ‘nation-building at home’ but the last four years have proven that his policies have only hurt economic recovery:
"’After a decade of war, I think we all recognize we have to do some nation-building at home,’ Obama said more than once.” (“Who won presidential debate? Both Obama and Romney, maybe,” Christian Science Monitor, 10/23/2012)

Democrats’ failed stimulus sent money to Chinese companies to create jobs overseas:
"...it is true that foreign-owned companies have received $2.4 billion in grants to build wind farms in the U.S. Choma gives this breakdown: ...China, $2.6 million...” (Eugene Kiely, Lara Seligman, Lauren Hitt and Melissa Siegel,"Stimulus Jobs in China?,” FactCheck.org, 10/29/2010)

After Washington Democrats refused to give up their reckless spending addiction, China owes $1.15 trillion in U.S. debt. (“Major Foreign Holders of Treasury Securities,” U.S. Department of the Treasury, 10/16/2012)

Barack Obama - "Not Optimal"

Nobel Peace Prize winner Barack Obama is not optimal for America.

Mitt Romney - The Highest Responsibility

Despite what President Obama says, our Navy is smaller now than at any time since 1917. It's the highest responsibility of the President of the United States to maintain the safety of the American people. Mitt Romney will not make our future less certain by cutting our military.

Mitt Romney - A Clear Path

This election is a choice between two very different paths. One is represented by President Obama with higher debt, lower take-home pay, and people struggling for work. Mitt Romney has a plan to create 12 million new jobs, get people off food stamps by getting them good jobs, and increase take-home pay.

Restore Our Future Releases "Genuinely Cares"

You won't hear Mitt Romney brag about this.

I volunteered to go to Iraq in 20003. I was involved in a horrible accident, which left me a double amputee. I first met Governor Romney during my recovery at Walter Reed. He took a personal interest in one soldier's story and he wanted to know how he could help. Romney worked with a charity to build special homes for severely injured veterans. The Mitt Romney I know cares deeply about people who are struggling. Mitt Romney helped make a huge difference in my life.

Restore Our Future Releases "Better"

Visit restoreourfuture.com In the last 4 years, high unemployment has become normal. Crushing debt and credit downgrades acceptable. Falling incomes typical. But these things are not inevitable. America can create the jobs we need. And leave our children better off. But we never go forward by settling for the status quo. We need to make a change. Barack Obama's economy isn't working. Demand Better.

Mitt Romney - Obama's Apology Tour

After taking office, President Obama went on an apology tour around the world. He even said that America had dictated to other nations. Mr. President, America doesn't dictate to other nations; we have freed other nations from dictators.

Kyrsten Sinema Lies, Trying to Cover Up Her Degrading Comment About Stay at Home Moms. AZ09

Phoenix, AZ – In her recent appearance on Channel 12’s Sunday Square Off with Brahm Resnik, Democratic Congressional candidate Kyrsten Sinema was caught blatantly lying.

When asked if she said stay at home moms were leeching off their husbands Sinema said:
"So, the statement about the stay at home moms is not true at all. I’ve never said anything negative about stay at home moms. In fact, Brahm, my own mom was a stay at home mom.” (KPNX, Sunday Square Off with Brahm Resnik, 10/20/2012)

Fact Check - Ms. Sinema said this to 944 Magazine in 2006:
"These women who act like staying at home, leeching off their husbands or boyfriends, and just cashing the checks is some sort of feminism because they’re choosing to live that life. That’s bulls—t. I mean, what the f—k are we really talking about here?” (944 Magazine, 2006)

ICYMI National Journal lists Ann Kirkpatrick "meltdown" among top memorable House debate moments AZ01.

The National Journal, one of the top political publications in the country, today released its list of "Memorable House Debate Moments of 2012." Out of 435 races nationwide, who made the list? Ann Kirkpatrick, with her "meltdown" at the Arizona Republic editorial board meeting.

Here is what National Journal had to say about Kirkpatrick's meltdown:

-- "Meltdown": Former Democratic Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, running to reclaim Arizona's 1st District, won the Arizona Republic's endorsement in 2008 and 2010. But she lost the paper's 2012 endorsement to Republican Jonathan Paton after displaying "unbounded contempt" for Paton during their meeting with the paper's editorial board. "We have seen more complete meltdowns in our board meetings," the Republic editorialized, "but never one so unexpected."
