Does Kyrsten Sinema Support Using Devastating Defense Cuts As A"Weapon” in Her Party’s Tax-Increasing Agenda? AZ09

Washington Democrats Threaten Devastating Military Cuts Because They Refuse to on Families and Job Creators

WASHINGTON --- Across-the-board cuts would severely threaten our national security but Kyrsten Sinema's Democrat allies have voted to use them as a political pawn so they can get the job-destroying tax hikes they want (Roll Call , 8/1/2012). Sinema and her party are doing everything to distract voters and increase their election chances, from denying that the cuts will happen to offering defense contractors incentives to break the law and not hand out pink slips days before the election.
"It’s troubling that Democrats would use the health of our national security as a ‘weapon’ just so they can continue their reckless spending addiction,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay."Arizona families and small business owners do not want these devastating defense cuts and can’t afford more taxes and reckless spending of their tax dollars.”

In the third presidential debate, President Obama attempted to distract from the Democrats’ job-destroying policies after the election:
"’First of all, the sequester is not something that I proposed. It’s something that Congress has proposed. It will not happen. The budget that we’re talking about is not reducing our military spending, it’s maintaining it,’ [said Obama].” (“Remarks by the President and Governor Romney in the Third Presidential Debate,” The White House, 10/23/2012)

In truth, Democrat leaders see devastating defense cuts as a"weapon” in their efforts to increase taxes:
"‘That may be the only way to bring some Republicans into a position of talking,’ Sen. Richard J. Durbin of Illinois, the assistant Democratic leader, said late last week. ‘We're not going to unload our weapons at this point.’” (Lisa Mascaro,"Congressional Democrats Dig In on Fiscal Cliff Scenario,” Los Angeles Times, 7/16/2012)

Indeed, the very idea of sequestration originated with Democrats:
"The book ‘The Price of Politics,’ by Washington Post Associate Editor Bob Woodward, makes it clear the idea for the draconian spending cuts originated in the White House – and not in Congress.” (Austin Wright,"Bob Woodward Book Could Bolster Republican Attack on W.H.,” Politico, 9/7/2012)

Washington Democrats tried to downplay sequester by requesting that defense contractors"hold off on layoff warnings.” (Jeanne Sahadi,"White House to Contractors: Hold Off on Layoff Warnings,” CNN, 9/28/2012)
