Latest Poverty Count Shows Arizona's Hispanics Suffering Most Under Obama Administration

Poverty, Unemployment, Income Disparity For Hispanics - 30% of Arizona's Population - Far Exceeds National Average

PHOENIX – It's no surprise that this month’s devastating poverty report from the U.S. Census Bureau shows median household income nationally has declined more than 8% since 2007, the year before President Obama took office. But while Obama’s policy failures continue to damage the overall U.S. economy, Hispanics continue to experience extraordinary suffering, based on four key economic indicators recently provided by the federal government:

Among Hispanics the poverty rate is now over 25%. That’s 13.2 million of the nation’s 51 million Hispanics. Hispanics are 30% of Arizona’s population, and are almost twice as likely to be living in poverty as the rest of the population.

Unemployment under the Obama Administration has been above 8% for 43 straight months while the unemployment rate for Hispanics is significantly higher - at 10.2%.

For every dollar earned by workers overall, Hispanics only earn an average of 77 cents.

With more than 15% of the U.S. population uninsured, that rate doubles for Hispanics – to 30% - meaning 15.8 million Hispanics currently have no health insurance.
"Not only has President Obama failed to get the nation as a whole back to work, he’s clearly ignored the desperate needs of one-third of Arizona’s population – Hispanics,” said Arizona Republican Party spokesman Tim Sifert. "Rather than offer solutions for real economic recovery, Barack Obama and his handpicked Democrat recruit Richard Carmona can only promise Arizonans more of the same liberal policies that has made the economy worse.“
