Arizona Republican Party Celebrates Constitution Commemoration Day

September 17, 2012

PHOENIX – Arizona Republican Party Chairman Tom Morrissey today issued a statement honoring the anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787.

We Republicans enthusiastically celebrate today as the anniversary of the signing of one of the most powerful documents of the modern world, the Constitution of the United States, created by our nation's founders and built upon lasting principles of Western Civilization. The principles embedded in this document -- liberty and justice, accountability and rights, the union of states for their security and welfare, checks and balances between the branches of government -- are principles that were discussed and debated at great length. Our nation was thus born, and the founders yielded a Constitution important not just to them, but to us, and to the many generations to come.

It is fitting that this anniversary comes at a time when Americans at home and abroad are also engaged in a great debate -- whether the last four years of economic duress and high unemployment, international violence and attacks on U.S. personnel, and a failed attempt at healthcare reform that will overburden our small businesses - should be repeated. Now is the most fitting time, and perhaps our only remaining opportunity, to save our state and our nation by electing Republicans to offices throughout the country, especially in Congress and the White House.
