Ron Barber's"Trickle-Down Government” Produces Unacceptably High Unemployment And A Discouraged Labor Force

Arizona Families Cannot Afford To Be Buried Another Four Years Under Job Crushing Policies

Washington --- The national unemployment for the month of September was announced today at the disappointingly high rate of 7.8 percent, evidence Arizona families are still struggling under Democrat’s trickledown government policies that are strangling small businesses and sending jobs to China. Will Ron Barber continue to support his party’s failed policies, or will he finally admit that his big government spending sprees have failed to create relief for America’s job creators?
"Democrats will be scrambling in the next month to explain why the unemployment rate has remained unacceptably high on their watch, especially given their promises that it would be well below 6% at this point,” said NRCC Communications director Paul Lindsay."American families can’t handle another four years of economic hardship to fund Democrats’ spending sprees that have strangled growth and failed to improve our economy.”

In September, the national unemployment rate remained unacceptably high at 7.8 percent. (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Accessed 10/5/2012)

President Obama has no rationale to defend his ‘trickle down’ government policies:
"...The governor accused President Obama of championing ‘trickle down government,’ Jim Lehrer asked the president to reply, and he didn’t — and the accusation stuck and was repeated later without response.” (Stanley Fish,"Debating Points,” The New York Times, 10/3/2012)

A new report finds middle class families are ‘struggling to advance’ under Washington Democrats’ leadership:
"A majority of Americans now define success as not falling behind. They worry that fundamental changes in the economy are making it more difficult for them—and their children—to get ahead.” (Ronald Brownstein,"Struggling to Advance,” National Journal, 9/28/2012)

Rep Ben Quayle Statement on September Jobs Report

PHOENIX (AZ) – Congressman Ben Quayle released the following statement in response to the Labor Department's release of the September unemployment report.

"A drop in the unemployment rate is always welcome, but this jobs report offers few reasons for cheer. Not enough jobs are being created to keep up with population growth, much less provide millions of unemployed Americans with work.

"What we're seeing is the effect of discouraged workers exiting the labor force; not sustained growth in employment. The President tries to put the best face on his failed policies, and he'll try to claim that this report is a triumph for workers. It isn't. This report shows as clearly as ever that we need a new approach to growing our economy and creating jobs."

Vernon Parker Releases Plan to Get Economy Back on Track. AZ09

Phoenix, AZ – Today Republican Congressional candidate Vernon Parker released his plan to get the economy back on track and get Americans back to work. The plan is not an esoteric approach to economics. It’s a practical approach – an approach devised after Parker spent weeks speaking with small business owners and CEO’s throughout the Valley. The plan illustrates what those business people have said is necessary to allow them to grow and hire.
"Americans need cash in their pockets and confidence in our economic future in order for our economy to recover,” said Alyssa Pivirotto, Communications Director for Vernon Parker. "Democrat Kyrsten Sinema doesn’t seem to understand that as she’s advocated, among other misguided ideas, to close Luke Air Force Base – a move that would cost more than 17,000 jobs. The bottom line is this: We cannot tax or cut our way to an economic recovery. But we can restore America’s promise by working together to make some tough decisions.”

Some of those decisions outlined in Parker’s jobs plan include:
- Implementing a 5-year freeze of the current tax rate
- Cutting the corporate income tax rate
- Cutting unnecessary government regulation
- Eliminating the death tax
- Simplifying the tax code

Here in Arizona we need to:
- Protect Luke Air Force Base
- Build Interstate 11
- Strengthen and increase ports of entry
- Invest in education

Fixing our economy is not something we can accomplish overnight. It will take hard work, tough decisions and cooperation. Vernon can get that done. In fact, the world’s largest business federation, the US Chamber of Commerce, endorsed Vernon because of his record on pro-business issues saying,"At no other time in our nation’s history has it been more critical that Members of Congress provide leadership that protects and advances the interests of the business community.”

Does Ron Barber Support Obama Bullying Contractors to Illegally Keeping Quiet on Massive Layoffs? AZ02.

Dems Offer Taxpayer Dollars to Cover Legal Fees if Defense Contractors Don’t Send Pink Slips.

WASHINGTON --- After 43 straight months of unemployment above 8.0 percent, America now faces even more devastating job losses due to across-the-board defense cuts, and contractors are legally required to warn of these imminent layoffs. Does Ron Barber agree with Obama’s attempt to illegally cover up the impact on defense jobs and make taxpayers foot the legal fees?
"Ron Barber thinks he can have his cake and eat it too, championing Obama’s job-killing policies and then covering up their devastating effects on the job market,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay."Barber and his party’s politically-motivated agenda is not only unsustainable, it’s motivated by their desperate attempts to deceive the public.”

Under law, defense contractors have to send notice of their plans to lay off workers. This comes as Democrats refuse to stop the looming tax hikes that will devastate small businesses:
"The White House on Friday told government contractors worried about fiscal cliff spending cuts to hold off on warning employees about possible layoffs.
"The government said it would cover legal costs if contractors are forced to slash their payrolls because of the looming $109 billion in automatic cuts next year and are alleged to have violated the WARN Act.” (Jeanne Sahadi,"White House to Contractors: Hold Off on Layoff Warnings,” CNN, 9/28/2012)

Rep. Quayle Responds to Disappointing Jobs Report AZ03

PHOENIX (AZ) – Congressman Ben Quayle released the following statement on the August national unemployment report.

"We keep hearing from this President that the robust economic recovery he promised is right around the corner; that we just need to be patient. Yet again, however, we have a jobs report that came in below expectations, and yet again the unemployment rate only dropped as a result of hundreds of thousands of frustrated workers leaving the workforce.

"This President's economic policies are an utter failure by any reasonable measure. The President must change course right away. Millions of unemployed Americans should not continue to suffer because of his stubborn adherence to failed policy"

Latest Jobs Figures Show Policies of President Obama and Richard "Rubberstamp" Carmona Hurting Arizona

12.5 Million Unemployed in U.S., Under 100,000 New Jobs Created in August, Labor Force Participation At 31 Year Low, Unemployment Still Over 8%

PHOENIX – When the Obama Administration decided to spend $825 billion on a stimulus plan at the beginning of the President's term almost four years ago, the promise made at the time was that it would "create or save" 3.5 million jobs. But today’s jobs report, issued by the federal government, shows that promise has been broken and the failed economic policies of President Barack Obama, who recruited Democrat Richard Carmona to run for U.S. Senate, are still not working - especially for Arizona.

Arizona is especially hard-hit by these failed policies, because the unemployment rate among Hispanics is two points higher than average, at 10.2%, and 30% of Arizona's population is Hispanic.

Unemployment nationally was supposed to be under 6% under President Obama's stimulus, yet still remains above 8%.

As the Wall Street Journal reports:

JOB GROWTH SLOWS SHARPLY IN AUGUST: Job growth slowed sharply in August, the Labor Department said Friday. Total nonfarm payrolls increased by 96,000, lower than the 125,000 gain expected by Wall Street economists. Adding to the sense of weakness, job growth in the past two months were revised down by 41,000. The unemployment rate declined to 8.1% in August from 8.3% in the previous month but the drop was due to a smaller labor force. Economists forecast the unemployment rate to hold steady at 8.3%. Average hourly earnings were flat at $23.52. Earnings are up 1.7% in the past year. The average workweek was unchanged at 34.3 hours. (Greg Robb, Job growth slows sharply in August, Wall Street Journal’s Market Watch, 9/7/12)
"President Obama and Democrats like Richard "Rubberstamp" Carmona have not only pushed policies that failed to improve our economy, they've ended up hurting Arizona disproportionately,” said Arizona Republican Party Spokesman Tim Sifert. "Our country sorely needs change in leadership, not just in the White House but in the U.S. Senate - a change that will revive our economy, move us away from high taxes and burdensome regulations - and Arizona can help do that by electing Jeff Flake to the U.S. Senate.”

President Obama Promised The Stimulus Would ‘Create Or Save’ 3.5 Million Jobs

ASSOCIATED PRESS: The Obama administration is defending its claim that the $787 billion economic stimulus plan will save or create 3.5 million jobs before 2011 even while conceding that unemployment will likely continue to rise beyond its earlier predictions. RNC Calls on the White House to Release All Communications

Between Obama Administration and the President's Jobs Council.
WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement calling on the White House to release all communications between the Obama Administration and the President's Jobs Council:

"The White House should release all communications between the Obama Administration and the President's Jobs Council," said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. "We know President Obama has been too busy fundraising and playing golf over the last six months to meet with the Council in person, but the American people deserve to know if anyone in the administration has even bothered to pick up the phone or send an email for the sake of jobs and the economy.

"The White House says the president had too much 'on his plate' to meet with his Jobs Council in six months. But somehow he had enough time for over 100 fundraisers and 10 rounds of golf. The president claims jobs are his 'number one' priority, yet his track record certainly suggests otherwise.

"The 23 million Americans struggling to find work today deserve better than a president who puts his job before theirs. Families who can barely pay the bills expect their president to fill his schedule with more than just fundraisers and campaign rallies. Sadly, President Obama continues to disappoint them."

Carmona's Approach to Economy Parallels Obama's Failed Policies

PHOENIX – Since taking office, President Obama and Washington’s Democrats have presided over the loss of 400,000 jobs, and today’s jobs report also shows the worst quarter of job creation in two years.

Democrat Richard Carmona’s support of the Obama Administration on ObamaCare is one indication that his willingness to support massive tax hikes on Americans and their small businesses puts him in perfect alignment with the tax and spend policies of President Obama that have kept unemployment rates above 8%.

Hispanics are faring even worse, with national unemployment at 11%, according to today’s jobs report.

CNBC’s John Harwood: "Not Good News For The American Economy"

"Carmona’s in lock step with the Democrat’s massive middle-class tax hike, he’s ignoring his constituents and instead praising fiscal irresponsibility,” said Arizona Republican Party spokesman Tim Sifert. "Democrat Richard Carmona is out of touch with Arizona voters and has his priorities all wrong.”

Background:

In March 2010, Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords Cited Carmona In Announcing Support For ObamaCare, Quoting Carmona:"We Need To Move Toward A Health Care System, Not The Sick Care System That We Have Today. This Legislation Moves Us Closer To That. This Bill Is Not Perfect. But These Are Complex Issues And We Must Move Forward.”"Carmona served as the 17th surgeon general of the United States under President George W. Bush. Last year, he participated in series of health care town halls that the congresswoman held in Tucson, Sierra Vista and Green Valley. ‘The issue facing our country is how do we get the best care for the most people at the least cost,’ Carmona said. ‘We spend more for health care than any other nation on Earth, but the metrics of our results don’t reflect that. We need to move toward a health care system, not the sick care system that we have today. This legislation moves us closer to that. This bill is not perfect. But these are complex issues and we must move forward. And then I hope we can sit down with level heads and make it even better for the benefit of the American people.’” (“U.S. Rep.
