Conservatives Send Letter to Leadership! @RepDavid @SpeakerBoehner AZ06
Washington, D.C. – Today Congressman David Schweikert, Congressman Tim Huelskamp, and Congressman Justin Amash released a letter that was sent to GOP House Leadership asking for written explanation for why they were kicked off their respective committees. They also requested the scorecard used to judge their votes. Below is the text of the letter:
December 7, 2012
The Honorable John Boehner
Speaker of the House of Representatives
232 The Capitol
Washington, DC 20515
Dear Speaker Boehner,
We write to request a full and complete written explanation of the rationale for removing us from our current committee assignments, including any"scorecards” presented to the Steering Committee to justify our removals.
On Monday, we learned that we had been removed from our committee assignments. Some of us learned of this news from a member of the Steering Committee; others never were officially informed and heard of the action from press accounts citing anonymous leadership staffers. To this date, no formal explanation has been given for the removal.
After learning of our removal, it came to our attention that a scorecard was presented to the Steering Committee to make the case for our removal from those committees. On Wednesday morning, Mr. Huelskamp stood before the House Republican Conference and asked to see a copy of the scorecard used to remove us.
Through this past term, we were not aware that any such scorecard existed, nor that the scores would cause us to be removed from committee assignments. We believe this would be valuable information for the entire Republican Conference to know, so that each Member can make a full and complete decision when casting votes in the future. It would also allow us to communicate to our constituents which votes caused us to be removed.
Please provide a full and complete written explanation for our removal, including a copy of the scorecard presented to the Steering Committee meeting, by close of business Monday, December 10th.
Sincerely,
David Schweikert Tim Huelskamp, Justin Amash

Arizona Republican Grassroots Stands For Principles, @RepDavid!
Friends, you may have heard that some Republican leaders in Washington DC are ignoring the grassroots and trying to "move" our Party away from our conservative ideals.
That is a very bad idea.
Good Republicans like our own Congressman David Schweikert are being punished for...being conservative!
I've let Speaker John Boehner know Congressman Schweikert is very important to his district, and to all of us. I think you should, too.
Click here to contact Speaker Boehner.
We need to strengthen our party, and getting our grassroots more organized and better equipped is the only way.
Please make a donation now that will help us spread the word.

PHOENIX – Tom Morrissey, Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, today issued a statement in support of Congressman David Schweikert after party leadership in Washington, D.C. removed Schweikert from his position on the House Financial Services Committee.
"Congressman Schweikert is not only a principled conservative but he is exceptionally qualified to continue his service on the Financial Services Committee. Arizona Republican Party A Well-Fought Battle, We Can Be Proud
With Hundreds of Thousands of Ballots Still To Count Statewide, GOP Not Conceding
PHOENIX – Arizona Republican Party Chairman Tom Morrissey offered the following statement today as the remaining ballots are counted statewide:
"In this election Arizona sought to lead the nation with our strong support for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. We successfully elected Republican Jeff Flake to the Senate, and we fought vigorously to win our three new congressional seats for Republicans as we await the final tally. We are also very proud that Republicans have held majorities in the Arizona House and Senate, and are encouraged that voters defeated pro-tax Prop 204 and Prop 121, which would have destroyed the current system of electing candidates to office throughout the state.
"And as we await the tally, we are not conceding anything regarding the close races throughout the state, and we trust that our patience will be rewarded with good news. With hundreds of thousands of ballots still to count, the Arizona Republican Party is not conceding.
"I thank each and every one of the more than 1 million Arizona Republicans for their hard work and support, and for their votes to elect our Republican candidates, and not just defend but to forcefully assert the principles of liberty and prosperity.
"But as I thank them, I also have something to ask of them, something I ask of myself as well. Are we ready to begin again? Are we ready to rebuild our resources for 2014? While we celebrate our wins, are we also prepared to analyze our losses, assess our needs, take a good hard look at ourselves, and create a plan for the future? Are we willing to proceed? For my part, the answer is a resounding YES! And I hope you will join me.
"I hope my enthusiasm for the future of our party resonates throughout the state."

Arizona Republican Chairman Responds With Strong Support for Sheriff Joe Arpaio
PHOENIX – Tom Morrissey, Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, issued the following statement today in response to former Maricopa County Attorney Rick Romley's statement regarding "accountability" in the race for Maricopa County Sheriff:
"As a fellow veteran and fellow law enforcement officer, I was disappointed but not surprised to hear that just one week before election day Rick Romley’s grudge against Sheriff Joe Arpaio has emerged again. Romley lost in 2010 to Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery, who was supported by Arpaio.
"Romley yesterday complained to Channel 12’s Brahm Resnik that Sheriff Joe Arpaio had a 'lack of accountability.' In fact, Sheriff Joe has always been accountable to the people, which is why he’s won five elections in a row, and polls are now showing him strongly in the lead.
"Romley has a history of supporting Democrats who lose to Republicans."

Update on Maricopa County Early Ballots & GOTV Efforts
I spoke with Maricopa County Elections Officials about an hour ago.
Here is a status of the Early Voter Ballots for Maricopa County as of 9:01am, Tuesday, 10/30/2012:
The 516,668 is 44.7% of the 1,155,000. The breakdown of the 516,668 is Republican 232,369 (466,451), Democrat 156,219 (350,389) and Other 128,080 (348,907).

VIDEO Jeff Flake Delivers the Weekly Republican Address
"It is my hope that the recess from fiscal sanity that the last four years have represented is over”
PHOENIX – Congressman Jeff Flake (R-AZ6) -- a candidate for the United States Senate -- delivered today’s weekly Republican address, stressing a path of fiscal responsibility, and the importance of tackling our nation’s debt and deficit.
Click the image below or this link to view the address:
Transcript of Jeff Flake’s address:
"Hello, I’m Jeff Flake, congressman from Arizona’s Sixth District.
"Last week, the Obama administration confirmed that the budget deficit for fiscalyear 2012 will be $1.1 trillion dollars. This will mark the fourth year in a row that the federal government has spent more than it has taken in to the tune of over a trillion dollars. With the school year under way across the country, it is not comforting to think that the class of 2012, who were freshmen along with this President, graduated without knowing what it was like to be in high school without the term ‘trillion dollar deficit’ being ever present in the news.
"And what do we have to show for this prolonged and record setting federal spending? The U.S. unemployment rate was 7.8 percent the month President Obama took office -- the same as it is this month. Home values have gone down by over 10 percent, and gas prices have more than doubled. The Obama administration added over 5 trillion dollars to the national debt for this?
"President Obama undoubtedly inherited a fragile economy, but he’s done little to improve it. In fact, rather than take a lesson, his answer to persistently weak jobs numbers is pressure to spend another half a trillion dollars on legislation that would fail to even take steps to deal with the economic slowdown.
"While House Republicans have passed a budget that addresses our challenges head-on, Democrats in the Senate have failed to even attempt to do their homework. They have not passed a budget in over 1200 days. Though the private sector is straining under the financial uncertainty facing the economy, perhaps worse yet is the regulatory certainty this administration appears bent on guaranteeing.
"If Arizona is in any way a microcosm for regulatory overreaches -- and I think it is -- then it is no wonder that the economy is struggling. Whether it’s locking up prime mining lands in northern Arizona to responsible mining, considering expensive and unnecessary requirements on power plants that could threaten water delivery across the state, forcing state and local governments to shell out precious dollars to just get off the regulatory hook for dust storms they can’t prevent or control, or threatening hotels and resorts with requirements to install permanent lifts in every pool and spa, there seems no end to the regulatory appetite of this administration.
"My wife, Cheryl, and I celebrated some great news this week. We became grandparents for the first time. Aiden Jeffry Flake was lucky enough to be born in the greatest country in the world. While it will be years before he is ready to start school, his share of the national debt is already over $50,000. If we continue along our current budget trajectory, ourgrandson is simply not going to have the same opportunities that my grandparents created for me. I know that I’m joined by many when I say I simply will not let that happen.
"It is my hope that the recess from fiscal sanity that the last four years have represented is over. As bad as our fiscal challenges are, it’s not too late. The bell has rung and it’s time for us to get to work.”

Arizona Republican Party Chairman Tom Morrissey Statement on Presidential Debate
PHOENIX – Tom Morrissey, Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, issued the following statement regarding last night's debate between Mitt Romney and President Obama.
"After seeing firsthand how our Republican nominee, Mitt Romney, laid out his plans for the future of our country, it became clear that we were witnessing a truly presidential performance. Obama, on the other hand, stumbled and sneered and proved he was the wrong person to be in the Oval Office. It may take a week to wipe the smile off my face, after which my ballot will arrive in the mail and give me even more reason to be happy that we can vote for our Republican candidates who are going to get our country back on the right track."

Chairman Tom Morrissey's Statement on 11th Anniversary of September 11, 2001
September 11, 2012
PHOENIX – Arizona Republican Party Chairman Tom Morrissey Statement on 11th Anniversary of September 11, 2001 Attacks:
"We are all sadly reminded on the anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy when unrestrained violence ended thousands of innocent lives. We continue to keep the victims in our prayers, and we will stay mindful of the ongoing struggles of the families and the survivors.
"The call to heroic action often comes to those who seek it, train for it, and are ready to risk their lives as those first responders did that day. Our troops today are likewise at the ready, because terrorism -- the precise opposite of liberty -- must be met, countered, and defeated in our defense of life and liberty.
"Let us take a moment today to be silent, and ask God to bless us all.”
